Biden Meets with Teamsters Leaders, Touts Record on Labor

Biden has called himself the "most pro-union president" as the Teamsters mull an endorsement

The Teamsters are one of the most powerful unions in the country with 1.3 million members

President Joe Biden met with leaders of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters on Tuesday, reminding them of his record on labor issues as the union considers endorsing a presidential candidate.

The Teamsters, one of the most powerful unions in the country with 1.3 million members, have yet to endorse a candidate in the 2024 election. Biden has touted his record on labor issues, including his support for the PRO Act, which would make it easier for workers to unionize.

The meeting between Biden and the Teamsters comes as the union is facing some internal divisions. In December, Teamsters President Sean O'Brien nearly got into a fistfight with a pro-Trump Republican senator, Markwayne Mullin, at a union conference.

Despite the internal divisions, the Teamsters are still a major force in the labor movement. Their endorsement could be a significant boost to any candidate in the 2024 election.

In his remarks to the Teamsters, Biden said that he is "the most pro-union president in American history." He also touted his record on the economy, saying that he has created more jobs than any other president in history.

The Teamsters are expected to make a decision on their endorsement in the coming months. Biden's meeting with the union leaders is a sign that he is taking their support seriously.
