Syracuse Orange Football: Trebor Pena Commits to the Team

Pena, a highly touted recruit, joins the Orange as a running back.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Pena was a standout running back at West Bloomfield High School in Michigan. As a junior, he rushed for 1,800 yards and 20 touchdowns, and he was named the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association's Division 1 Player of the Year.

Pena is a physical runner with good speed and vision. He is also a good receiver out of the backfield, and he has the potential to be a major contributor to the Syracuse offense.

"Trebor is a special player," said Syracuse coach Dino Babers. "He is a complete back who can do it all. He is a great addition to our program, and we are excited to have him."

Pena is the latest in a long line of talented running backs to play for Syracuse. In recent years, the Orange have had success with running backs such as Sean Tucker, Moe Neal, and Jerome Smith.

Tucker led the ACC in rushing yards per game in 2022, and he was named a second-team All-American by the Associated Press.

Neal was a 1,000-yard runner in 2021, and he was named the ACC Rookie of the Year.

Smith was a two-time All-American at Syracuse, and he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Pena has the potential to be as good as any of those running backs. He is a talented player who is joining a program that has a history of success at the position. Pena is expected to be a major contributor to the Syracuse offense in 2023.
